 Georgia’s
smallest, deepest and newest Great Lake – Carters Lake –
has more than 60 miles of shoreline and 3,220 acres of water. Nestled
at the southern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia,
its rugged shoreline and deep, clear waters invite you to take advantage
of the many recreational opportunities found here – from camping,
fishing, boating or spending a day on the beach, Carters Lake offers
a serene and restful respite from the hustle and bustle.
 Carters
Lake’s shoreline is laced with miles of hiking, biking and
nature trails and the area is filled with a wide variety of flora
and fauna. The dramatic landscape shifts from gentle rolling hills
on the south and west sides to mountains on the north and east side
near the dam.
Go back to nature at Carters Lake with a quiet, serene setting
for camping, picnicking, fishing, water skiing, or sight-seeing.
Hike the nature trails; challenge the popular mountain bike trails.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has developed many park areas around
the lake for camping and day-use activities.
