Boating

Sailing, water-skiing, fishing, cruising, house boating or pontooning ...The Great Lakes of Georgia are popular for boaters all year long. All of these man-made lakes offer boat launches along the shorelines at Georgia State Parks or Corps of Engineers' sites. Marinas – the gateways to Georgia's Great Lakes – provide excellent local knowledge to help visitors enjoy all these lakes offer. In addition, they provide a wealth of services for boaters, from fuel and pump-out to ship's stores for boating supplies.

Boat dealers and marine suppliers have locations around each lake. For instance, the Friendship Road/Holiday Road corridor on the southeast side of Lake Lanier in Buford offers one of the country's largest concentrations of boat dealers, selling houseboats, powerboats, center consoles, pontoon boats, fishing boats and sailboats. Boating supplies, equipment and accessories are offered by local merchants and larger regional and national chain stores near each lake.

Some lakes offer chartered pleasure boating trips and eco-tours as well. Several lakes are ideal for canoeing, kayaking and rowing. Enjoy the Great Lakes of Georgia by boating.
