Richard B. Russell Lake and Dam offers pristine waters for fishing, swimming, boating, camping, hiking and enjoying nature. With its undeveloped shorelines, Russell Lake provides an outdoor experience that goes beyond just fishing; visitors enjoy the beautiful scenery as well as the abundant wildlife.

The lake is ideal for wildlife viewing. No homes have been built along the shoreline, preserving the natural beauty of the lake. The area is strikingly beautiful and picturesque, and the Corps of Engineers has maintained the aesthetic qualities of the lake and shoreline.

The area is also home to a wealth of Native American history.
