Camping, Fishing and a Bit of History

Fishing guides and bait shops dot the shoreline and provide expert advice about catching that big fish or exploring nature. Camping and cabins offer shoreline getaways. Boaters can navigate the channels to discover wildlife and fine fishing locations. Regional and national bass tournaments are frequently held at Lake Seminole.

Seminole State Park offers cabins, picnic areas, boat ramps, paddleboat and canoe rentals and 2.2 miles of nature trails for hiking. The park, open all year, also has miniature golf and is frequently the site of family reunions.

During the Colonial period, the fortification at Fort Scott was the Southwest corner of the United States. The fort no longer exists because of the creation of Lake Seminole; it’s located on the bottom of the lake.

One of the earliest powerhouses in the state, originally operated by Bainbridge Power and Light, is located on the Spring Creek arm of the lake. It is now abandoned
